50 days to go!

50 days to go!

Olympic champion Hubert Kos’ great friend and American teammate Leon Marchand, who won four gold medals in Paris, will be at the World Aquatics Swimming Championships (25m) in December, starts in 50 days in the Duna Arena.

Fifty days to go – that’s the message of the latest World Aquatics Swimming Championships (25m) film, starring Hubert Kos again as he prepares for the event at the University of Texas in Budapest. “I’m not even backing off my hand, which I unfortunately burnt badly back in September, I think more than the salmon steak I tried to fry with the guys, ” said the Olympic champion about his American adventures.

The first day of the Wolrds is still far away, but it is far from certain that fans still have fifty days to buy tickets, as the Duna Arena’s stands are filling up fast. “We are opening the last sectors, so it’s worth visiting the Eventim website, because it’s not sure that tickets will still be available even in a month’s time,” said David Szanto, the operational manager of the organising committee, who added that based on preliminary registrations, participation from more than 180 countries are expected.

Fans’ spirits were probably boosted by the recent revelation that the open water Olympic bronze medallist will be competing in the event. Dávid Betlehem has also decided to compete in the 1500 – and perhaps other distances – at the World Championships. And, of course, a growing number of foreign stars have indicated their desire to return to the fastest pool in the world, including Paris’ hero Leon Marchand. The Frenchman, who won four Olympic gold medals this summer and is training with Bob Bowman  alongside Hubert Kos, is understandably keen to come to Budapest, having burst onto the world scene at the 2022 World Championships here in June.
